Mountainman Grossarltal

After听having already run the Mountainman race in Nesselwang two years ago, it was his听first time in the Grossarl Valley, which is also known as 鈥淭he Valley of听Mountain Huts鈥 due to its unusually high concentration of huts. Thorsten听completed the 50 km / 31 mi long race with an elevation gain of 2,855 m /听9,367 ft in 09:10:19 h and finished in 11th place in his age group.听Despite the great result he remains modest. 鈥淯nlike road marathons, where my听full focus is on my running time, I want to enjoy mountain races and the听beautiful panorama. Sometimes I just stop to take photos鈥, Thorsten told us. 鈥淚t听may sound crazy, but despite the physical exertion, mountain runs are also听relaxing to me. It's a time when I can be completely by myself, and it鈥檚 an听important balance to my job as a production manager at 青青草视频. I听encourage everyone to find such a balance, which may look different for one听another鈥.听

For Thorsten, enjoying听the race included tasting the event鈥檚 typical aid station food: Kaiserschmarrn.听The traditional Austrian dessert is a scrambled and sugared pancake with听raisins and applesauce and was served at the mountain huts. 鈥淒elicious, but
heavy on the stomach鈥, as Thorsten reported.听

Allg盲u Panorama Marathon

A premier听for him was the participation in the Allg盲u Panorama Marathon near the听German-Austrian border. This race was actually not in his race calendar. 鈥淢y听original plan was to run the Zugspitzlauf听on Germany's highest mountain. However, I did not feel prepared enough. So, instead I听joined a friend at very short notice and registered for the Allg盲u Panorama听Marathon three days prior to the start鈥. But that didn't stop Thorsten from a听great placement. After 05:23:05 h, 42 km / 26 mi and 1,500 m / 4,921 ft of听elevation gain he crossed the finish line in 7th place in his age听group.听
