More Applications with Insul-SHIELD庐 Black

Customer feedback. It鈥檚 something that continually drives us at JM to improve our products, and it鈥檚 why our Insul-SHIELD庐 line has a new look. It鈥檚 the same great insulation product you might have already used, but now with improved aesthetics.

Insul-SHIELD Black is a series of flexible, semi-rigid and rigid fiberglass board insulation. It reduces sound transmission through roofs, ceilings, floors and walls while also providing effective resistance to heat transfer.

Our newly improved product includes a black core, making it more aesthetically pleasing when installed. Previously, the core color was a stark contrast to the black mat facer. By having a black core, it allows the boards to blend into the background even when the edges are not framed in.

Insul-SHIELD can be used in a variety of curtain wall type applications. It鈥檚 great for places like theaters, dark amusement park rides, recording studios, casinos and restaurants. It can also be used in exterior curtain wall cavities and parking structures.

With its dark look, Insul-SHIELD blends in or creates a pleasant aesthetic while also providing acoustic benefits. For example, it鈥檚 great in a parking structure located beneath a building to help drown out the noise. Insul-SHIELD also works well behind theater screens and in mechanical rooms. It鈥檚 an alternative to the eggcrate-type sound-absorbing insulation you might be familiar with.

鈥淚nsul-SHIELD Black improves upon our original product with the new black core,鈥 said Ashleigh Denman, JM Product Manager. 鈥淭he product is now perfect for use in so many more applications because with its dark core, it absorbs unwanted light while also providing excellent acoustics.鈥

鈥淭his was really customer preference,鈥 Denman added. 鈥淭his is a great example of JM working for its customers. When we sent samples to customers, they told us they preferred an all-black product. We hit the drawing board, adjusted our production process and made it happen for them.鈥

Insul-SHIELD Black comes in blanket and board versions, with flexible and semi-rigid options.
